Final Year Student’s Project: a waste of time, resources or the best?

Education is the bedrock of every prosperous nation, it begins by instilling morals, discipline and ethics into life of individuals, making them a great ambassador of their society.

Education open the eyes of a young man into opportunities in his society by first having full understanding of the common problem they shared.

None of the greatest inventors of the world achieved such by only mastering an already formulated principle, rather, they do by trying to solve a problem facing humanity with such principles which eventually led them to discoveries which shaked the human history for good.

Jist like every other parts of the world, Nigeria is not exceptional, all students undergoing a particular certificate programme in all the higher institutions are required to write a project on a particular topic given to them by their assigned supervisors.

It usually takes many students several months to complete the project, while many write reports on data they collected from a particular given source, some look a previously writing material and make a new copy with their names boldly writing on the front page with no regards to either copy write owner or law against plagiarism.

Many people write such project to earn their degree, some do it for their Master or Doctorate, only to earn more in their respective place of work, without adding anything positively to their field of study!

There are few people, who do not let their investment on their project go unrewarded, in actual fact, their lives receive total turn-around as a result of project they made research on, which had become their source of livelihood.

With the wrong Orrientation and foundation on which this very important aspect of learning was build upon in Nigeria, many people have been wondering if all the resources invested upon writing project do worth it.

Little concern is usually shown on the aspect of applying the recommendations from our research projects, but recently, there had been concerns on the effort and resources, as most of the research books are usually found in the waste bin (not even recycle bin!).

What almost cost some people their precious life, becomes a trash someone have to get rid of!

It is essential to let school pass through one, as one is passing through school.
